Christine Ng's Past

Christine entered the industry by joining ATV's 1989 Miss Asia beauty pageant; she won the most photogenic award. Shortly after the pageant, Christine married first husband, Yung Kwong Pui.

Yung Kwong Pui was 30 years older than Christine. She was only 21 years old at the time of their wedding. After only 13 days into their marriage, Yung died of a heart attack.

Yung was a high standing partner at the Hong Kong division of Ernst and Young accounting firm and had accumulated a massive fortune over his lifetime. He left Christine $170 million (HKD) in his will after he died.

Christine spoke of her first husband, "I admired him a lot. When I think of him now, it is no longer love, but a very fond remembrance. Before I met Yung, I had suffered from very unhappy experiences. My first boyfriend had beat me and left me with an emotional scar. After I met Yung, he encouraged me to compete in the Miss Asia contest. After meeting him, my eyes really opened."

Christine kept a diary of the first 13 days of her marriage and noted, "We were married at Fu Lai Wah Hotel. After marrying, our house had not completed its renovation yet, so we stayed at Fu Lai Wah hotel instead. At the time, everything was so new to me, I felt like a princess."

Since Yung had died in China, his will was contested by family members for a lengthy period. It was not until year 2000 that the courts finally awarded Christine an amount of $9 million, a severe cutback from her original entitlement. For many years, Christine suffered from depression due to negative rumors and the title that she was a "black" widow and had brought bad luck to her late husband.

Shortly after Yung had died, Christine fell in love with a married man. Their affair lasted 4 years. "At the time, my first husband had died 6 months. I really wanted someone to love me. One day I thought to myself, 'Why am I the third party? I didn't want him and his wife to divorce. I really loved the man and he treated me well. I think if he were single, I would have married him."

Christine contacted the man's wife and apologized for being the third party. Christine wanted to be responsible for her actions. "I poured a cup of tea for her and said, 'I'm sorry. I acted rashly since I was young. I hope you can forgive me!' She drank the cup of tea and afterwards, we did not have any hatred towards each other anymore."

In 1998, Christine met her second husband, Kasey Lin Hoi Tong through Gigi Lai Chi. Lin was a successful advertising executive. They have been happily married for 6 years now.

Christine openly pursued Kasey in the relationship. "I am not a shy person. Many men feel that I am very warm and direct. My happiness today is due to my hard efforts. If you love a person, you have to go after him. I was very honest and told him how I felt. I told him, 'It is safe for you to give yourself to me; I will take very good care of you!'"

Christine is very open about her relationship. "Women are the same as men; it is hard for them to resist temptation. Men will cheat in a relationship and women will do the same. When I was young, I had an affair with a married man too. Men and women are equal. Even today, I still have a lot of men pursuing me."

It is really hard to find an actress as open as Christine Ng in Hong Kong. Very rarely will you hear an actress openly admit that she was the third party in a married man's life. Love her or hate her for her boldness and unconventionalness, Christine has never been shy about her opinions on relationships.
